The President of South Ossetia noted the effectiveness of work with Russian border guards

The border guards of Russia and South Ossetia effectively cooperate in the field of protection of state borders and suppression of cross-border crime. This was announced on May 28 by the President of the republic Alan Gagloev.

He visited the Border Department of the FSB of Russia in South Ossetia, where he took part in an event in honor of the 108th anniversary of the formation of the border authorities.

"The border Department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of South Ossetia, together with units of the Border Guard Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia, effectively solves the tasks of protecting the state border, countering cross—border crime, illicit trafficking in weapons and narcotic drugs, as well as ensuring stability in the region," Gagloev is quoted as saying on the website of the President of South Ossetia.

He also congratulated the employees and veterans of the Border Department of the FSB of Russia in the republic on the Day of the Border Guard. In his speech, Gagloev stressed that service at the border requires high responsibility, endurance and dedication to duty.

According to the President of the Republic, cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia in the field of state border protection is a strategic alliance. He noted that the border guards of the two countries have been jointly ensuring the security of the republic and maintaining stability in the region for many years.

"We cherish the memory of the heroic deed of the Soviet border guards, who during the Great Patriotic War were the first to take the enemy's blow and showed unparalleled courage and heroism. And today, in the context of a special military operation, the soldiers of Russia and South Ossetia stand together again, defending our values and a common future," the President of South Ossetia emphasized.

In conclusion, Gagloev thanked the veterans of the service for their loyalty to the oath and wished the current staff and veterans health, well-being and success.

Putin praised the steadfastness of the Russian Armed Forces and called on the special services not to disrupt the negotiations between Moscow and Washington.

On the same day, a flower-laying ceremony was held in Moscow at the monument to the "Border Guards of the Fatherland" in Ustinsky Park. The event was held in honor of the Border Guard Day. A delegation of the FSB Border Guard Service and veterans took part in laying flowers. On the evening of May 27, a solemn action "Combat Crew" was also held at the monument with the participation of representatives of the service and pupils of the Young Friends of Border Guards movement.

Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), said that the mission of Russian border guards to protect Russia's borders is important and responsible. Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, stressed that the Russian border troops have been demonstrating their high professionalism for decades. Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated the personnel, civilian personnel and veterans of the border guard service of the FSB of the Russian Federation on Border Guard Day. He noted the rich history of the Russian border guard service and its importance during the Great Patriotic War.
