Armored pickup truck Sollers ST9 presented in Russia

The Sollers company presented in Yekaterinburg a special version of the Sollers ST9 pickup truck with hidden armor, the car protects against fire from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Izvestia correspondent reports from the presentation on May 28.

The Sollers ST9 received a "circular" passenger cabin reservation, including the floor and roof. The floor of the machine is additionally covered with a special anti-splinter coating. The pickup truck has seven-layer bulletproof glass, including the windshield and rear. At the same time, unlike many other similar armored vehicles, the front side windows on the ST9 are lowered by 120 mm. In addition, additional "flaps" are installed in the doorways to protect the driver and passengers from targeted shelling of the door joints.

"The car is armored according to the BR4 class. It protects the driver and passengers from being fired from a Kalashnikov assault rifle with thermally reinforced steel core cartridges," Svetlana Surkova, the company's head of special projects, told Izvestia.

The pickup received additional protection for the fuel tank, battery and radiator, as well as a fire extinguishing system under the hood and an emergency mass switch. Despite the fact that the installation of armor increased the weight of the car by more than 800 kg, the "passenger" category of rights "B" is still sufficient to control the pickup truck - the maximum permissible weight of the car is 3.1 t. However, the model's load capacity has decreased to 300 kg after improvements.

The engine (2.0 liters; 224 hp) and transmission (eight-speed automatic) remained standard. Of the changes in the technical part, it is worth noting the reinforced suspension springs. The modification of the car was carried out by the partner of the Sollers group, the Russian company Name-Auto.

The day before, the Sollers group posted a video on social media with stories about the updated UAZ Patriot SUV. Together with the restyled "Pro" and "Pickup" models, it should appear on the roads of Russia this fall.
