An exhibition of portraits of leading Russian scientists will open at SPIEF

Plasma rocket engine and atomic batteries, Russian technologies for the production of special components for petrochemicals, technologies for radiation safety and extraction of rare earth metals, new alternatives to antibiotics, drugs for cancer and orphan diseases, new materials, projects of the "megascience" class and "human—centered" artificial intelligence - advanced Russian scientific developments can change the world and improve people's lives. The Science in Faces exhibition will once again bring together Russian scientists, authors of breakthrough domestic technologies that define the future. The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on June 5 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with the participation of Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

The exhibition of the fifth season of the project will include portraits of 32 scientists from 15 regions of Russia, whose inventions and developments have been awarded high prizes in the field of science — laureates of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovation for young scientists Alexander Anikin, Gleb Belozerov, Dmitry Butylsky, Victoria Vedyushkina, Artem Isaev, Vladislav Kibkalo, Pavel Moseev, Mikhail Shandov, winner of the Russian Federation Government Prize in Science and Technology for Young Scientists, Pavel Vorobyov, Maria Deryabina, Evgeny Knyazev, Anastasia Lipatova, Anastasia Sosnovtseva, winners of the Sbera Scientific Prize Mikhail Medvedev and Dmitry Penzar, winners of the national prize in the field of future technologies "CHALLENGE" of Faith Wil and Stepan Kalmykov, as well as scientists who presented their developments to the President of the Russian Federation at the Congress of Young Scientists, winners of competitions of the Russian Science Foundation, employees of leading Russian scientific organizations and high—tech companies - SIBUR, Sberbank, Rosatom.

"Young scientists play a key role in achieving the country's technological leadership in the most important industries, therefore our task is to ensure a constant influx of talented personnel into the field of research and development. And such science popularization projects as Science in Person actively contribute to this," said Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The exhibition will be held with the grant support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as with the support of the Roscongress Foundation and Sbera. SIBUR, the leader of the Russian petrochemical industry, has been the general partner of the project for the third year in a row. The project is part of the "Science is Near" initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology.

The concept of the exhibition in 2026 is "Scientists are the new rock stars." The concept was developed in collaboration with a creative partner, the CHIVO project. The exhibition will show scientists as bold, bold, energetic, real rock stars. Scientists are no longer recluses in white coats, but bright, creative, passionate people, modern heroes looking for answers to intellectual challenges and ready to change the world. In June 2026, a special project dedicated to the heroes of the exhibition will be published in the print issue of the Pulp FICTION magazine.

During the year, visitors to Moscow's largest public spaces will see portraits of outstanding scientists.: VDNKh, Sokolniki Park and the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Gorky, passengers of the Moscow metro. The exhibition will also be presented at the sites of federal universities in the regions of Russia. The heroes of the project will give lectures to students and take part in scientific events.

Science in Faces will conclude the season at the VI Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held at Sirius University of Science and Technology on November 25-27, 2026. Scientists will participate in the discussions of the congress.
