Compact road signs will be installed at 280 addresses in Moscow
Since the beginning of this year, more than 4,000 compact road signs have been installed on 24 streets in Moscow, and this year such signs will be installed at almost 280 addresses. The metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in the "Max" on May 28.
As explained in Deptrans, compact road signs perform the same functions as standard ones, but at the same time they fit better into the urban environment and reduce visual noise. They take up less space on the streets, but they should be clearly visible to drivers, pedestrians, and SIM users.
In addition, compact signs can combine several designations on one board at once, and are suitable for intra-district streets, city centers, and sections with speed limits up to 60 km/h.
Since the beginning of 2026, small-format signs have appeared, for example, on Izmailovskaya, Volnaya and Zarayskaya streets, in 3rd Kirpichny Lane and on the understudy of General Kuznetsov Street.
As Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport, noted, small-format road signs have been installed in Moscow since 2017.
Earlier, on May 20, it was reported that in Moscow in the four months of 2026, the number of cases exceeding the speed limit from 60 km/h and above decreased by 24% compared to the same period last year.
