The UK has opened a case into a fatal bus accident in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

A criminal case has been opened in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Khabarovsk Territory) over a collision between a passenger car and a bus, as a result of which one person was killed and three injured. This is reported by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, May 26, on the Hummin highway. A Mitsubishi Pajero SUV drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Nefaz intercity bus. As a result of the collision, the bus flew into a ditch, the SUV tipped over on its side.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 46-year-old man, died on the spot before the ambulance arrived. According to the Traffic police, he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Five passengers were injured on the bus, three of them women were hospitalized, IA AmurMedia writes.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the incident under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements." An investigation is underway.

Earlier, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry told Izvestia that 292 road accidents had occurred on the country's roads over the past day, killing 25 and injuring 352 people. 14 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, 17 more road users, including four children, needed medical help. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
