Poland and the UK called Russia the "main security threat"

Poland and the United Kingdom called Russia the "most serious threat" in the security agreement document. This was announced on May 27 on the website of the Office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"The Russian Federation was identified as the most significant long—term threat to the security of the two countries," the publication says.

It is emphasized that the countries plan to strengthen their ties on the basis of NATO and confirm their commitment to the North Atlantic Alliance as the basis of their security and the foundation of the collective defense of the region.

Earlier in the day, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the new agreement on strengthening military cooperation with the UK should be directed against Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in December 2025 that Western countries are constantly creating an image of an enemy from the Russian Federation in order to distract attention from their own mistakes. The Head of State stressed that the talk about Russia's intention to attack Europe has no basis and is being used as part of the domestic political agenda of Western countries.
