Weight loss specialist Victoria Govorushko explained how store-bought fruits differ from those grown in the country.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, May 27, the expert explained that local seasonal products contain more vitamins than imported ones, as the latter are often harvested unripe for transportation, which is why they are inferior in nutritional value and less absorbed.

According to her, prolonged storage in fruits destroys vitamin C, which is important for immunity. She stressed that it is better to store the fruits whole, since when cut and exposed to air, the nutrients are quickly lost. At the same time, freezing allows you to preserve both the structure of the product and its vitamin composition, and it is recommended to defrost the berries in the refrigerator so that they do not lose their shape.

Also on May 27, Roskachestvo experts told us what you need to pay attention to first when choosing cherries. First of all, it is recommended to evaluate the appearance and color of the fruits. Berries should be chosen with a rich, uniform color, characteristic of the variety.

Earlier in May, Ksenia Malinovskaya, head of the agro cluster's analytics department, told Gazeta.Ru", that mangoes from Brazil can be bought at a price from 100 to 200 rubles. Slightly more expensive, but still in the mass segment are Chinese pitahaya (250-300 rubles / kg), longan (400-600 rubles / kg) and papaya (600-665 rubles / kg), the website writes kp.ru .

Prior to this, Galina Kozhevnikova, a hepatologist and head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at RUDN University, told the National Research Council that the hepatitis A virus and other intestinal infections can persist in frozen and fresh fruits. According to her, it is necessary to wash not only frozen fruits and vegetables, but also products that are ready for consumption.

Earlier, infectious diseases doctor Irina Zhuravleva urged not to eat vegetables and berries "straight from the garden," as intestinal infections are especially common in the summer. She stressed that you should wash vegetables, fruits and herbs before eating, RT notes.
