Nutritionist Olga Yablokova in an interview with aif.ru On Wednesday, May 27, she told me which product has a high magnesium content, which is good for the heart and good sleep.

The expert noted that most of the magnesium and other useful substances are found in raw seeds, especially pumpkin and sunflower seeds. They are rich not only in magnesium, but also in zinc, vitamin E, and healthy fats.

At the same time, when frying seeds, they lose up to 30% of magnesium, and fats are oxidized and become less useful. Vitamins and antioxidants are also destroyed, and due to high temperatures, harmful substances can form, including acrylamide, which is associated with the risk of cancer.

Raw seeds, according to the expert, are devoid of these disadvantages, therefore they are considered more useful. They are recommended to be consumed in moderation — about 20-30 g per day, added to dishes or slightly dried without oil.

The expert warned that sunflower seeds are not suitable for people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and gall bladder, as they can cause exacerbations.

Earlier in May, doctors talked about the risks of constant magnesium intake. According to experts, magnesium is most effective when it is deficient, but high doses of the element without a doctor's prescription are dangerous for the development of cardiac arrhythmias.
