Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev will go into outer space from the International Space Station (ISS) on May 27. At 17:15 Moscow time, the station hatch is opened for them. Izvestia is broadcasting the first spacewalk from the ISS in 2026.
The estimated time of extravehicular activity of astronauts will be 5 hours and 27 minutes. The Russians will install a radio telescope on the Zvezda module as part of the Sun-Terahertz experiment, remove the third container of the Biorisk experiment from the Poisk module, which spent almost five years in outer space, and dismantle the cassette from the Ekran-M experiment equipment on the Nauka module.
This is the second spacewalk in his career for Kud-Sverchkov, and the first for Mikaev. Inside the ISS, Russian Andrey Fedyaev controls the ERA robot arm.
