The refusal to grant permission for flights to Russia to the Turkish charter company Air Anka is due to "operational necessity." This was reported to Izvestia on May 27 by the press service of the Anex travel agency.

"The cancellation and postponement of Air Anka flights are caused by operational necessity ahead of the season. For our part, we offer tourists at resorts to extend their stay at our expense," the company explained.

The Anex press service added that for people who are still in Russia but have already bought tickets for the Air Anka flight, it is possible to reschedule the flight dates or make a refund.

"All applications are handled on a point—by-point basis and the most profitable option for tourists is selected," the travel agency concluded.

Earlier that day, a source from Izvestia close to the Russian Ministry of Transport reported that Air Anka was forced to cancel flights to and from Russia, as the carrier was denied permission to fly. The source said that the company "started selling flights without coordination with the Russian aviation authorities." The conditions of a possible return to the airline were not reported.
