The Russian Prosecutor General called for establishing direct contacts with Chinese agencies.

On May 27, Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, at a meeting with Chinese Justice Minister He Rong, called for establishing direct communication channels between the departments.

Welcoming his foreign colleague, the head of the Russian supervisory authority announced a common task for the two agencies — to ensure the implementation of the course for the development of comprehensive cooperation set by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"Of course, the strengthening of bilateral contacts, effective work within the existing mechanisms of interaction and the establishment of direct communication channels play an important role in this. A Memorandum of cooperation has been developed for this purpose," Gutsan said.

The head of the Russian department noted that the document provides for the exchange of information on a wide range of issues, conducting mutual visits, consultations and scientific research.

"It is important that we have agreed to coordinate positions and coordinate our actions on multilateral international platforms," Gutan stressed.

As a next step, he proposed developing a joint cooperation program that would combine efforts to combat transnational crime, digitalize the rule of law, and introduce artificial intelligence. Gutsan expressed confidence that the involvement of departmental educational institutions with their research potential will allow achieving high results.

The negotiations resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China.

The Russian Prosecutor General arrived in China the day before.
