- Iran has included clauses on a 60-day truce and deblocking in the draft agreement with the United States.
The draft of a potential agreement between Iran and the United States includes clauses on a 60-day truce, including in Lebanon, and an end to the naval blockade. This was stated on May 27 by member of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Majlis of the Islamic Republic Alaeddin Borujerdi.
"The draft agreement between Iran and the United States provides for Washington's commitment to observe a comprehensive 60-day ceasefire, including in Lebanon, as well as the release of a significant part of Iran's frozen assets and the lifting of the naval blockade," Al Mayadeen TV channel quoted him as saying on the social network X (former. Twitter).
Boroujerdi added that his representatives of the diplomatic apparatus of his state do not intend to make decisions based on the emotional publications of the American President Donald Trump.
He stressed that any signed agreement would respect Iran's red lines, as well as protect the country's national interests and the rights of its people.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a day earlier that it could take several days to agree on the wording of a future agreement between Washington and Tehran. Then he also pointed out the importance of unblocking the straits in the Middle East, which will be opened "one way or another." On May 25, The New York Times (NYT) learned from an American official that the parties had reached an agreement in principle to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
