Putin arrives in Kazakhstan on a state visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on May 27 on a state visit. The Russian leader's plane landed at the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport.

The President of the Russian Federation is personally greeted by Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with a guard of honor. Putin and his Kazakh colleagues will then proceed to Tokayev's residence.

As the adviser to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov, reported, on May 28, the presidents will hold talks in both narrow and expanded format. Putin will also take part in the summit of the Eurasian Economic Union.

In an article published on the eve of the state visit, the Russian president stated Moscow's readiness to develop allied relations with Astana. Putin expressed confidence that the upcoming talks with Tokayev would give an impetus to further strengthening the Russian-Kazakh partnership.
