Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, who arrived in Beijing on an official visit, met with the Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China on May 27 Wang Xiaohong and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with him.

The Prosecutor General said that Moscow and Beijing face common challenges that they face in the context of globalization. These included international terrorism, extremism, drug and arms smuggling, as well as corruption crimes.

"It is necessary to expand the list of crimes covered by the convention. To ensure a sovereign digital space. I consider it important to continue the joint mission of Russia and China in order to constructively solve the problem in the international arena," he said during the talks.

Gutsan added that the new agreement will become the basis for cooperation between the Russian and Chinese departments on this and other issues. The relevant document was signed to the applause of the audience.

The Russian Prosecutor General arrived in China the day before. He was met by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Igor Morgulov and the leadership of the Supreme People's Prosecutor's Office of the People's Republic of China. It was assumed that a number of documents aimed at further developing the relationship would be signed as part of the interaction between the parties.

On May 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the important role of close strategic cooperation between Russia and China on the world stage. This tandem, he said, performs a stabilizing function, as it "does not make friends against anyone," but works for the cause of peace and universal prosperity.
