Starting from June 1, working parents raising two or more children will be able to apply for a new family tax payment if their family is found to be in need. This was announced on May 27 by Ekaterina Golubtsova, Associate Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

"Families with two or more children have had their income tax burden reduced over the past year, subject to a number of conditions, thanks to a new family tax payment. The benefit is declarative in nature, that is, you need to apply for it from June 1 to October 1, 2026, to the territorial office of the SFR in person, through the IFC or through the Unified Portal of Public Services," Golubtsova told RIA Novosti.

The expert clarified that families with children under the age of 18 or under the age of 23 are eligible for payment if they study full-time. At the same time, all family members must be citizens of the Russian Federation and permanently reside in Russia, and the applicant must be a tax resident and have no alimony arrears. Also, the average per capita income of a family should not exceed one and a half times the regional minimum subsistence level.

She added that it is not necessary to provide supporting documents, since the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) independently receives the necessary data on income, taxes and property through interdepartmental channels.

On May 21, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Kaplan Panes announced the expansion of measures to support student families in Russia this year. He noted that student families belong to a category that requires special attention from the state.
