Smartphone exports to Russia from China reached a maximum in 1.5 years

In April 2026, smartphone shipments to Russia from China reached their highest volumes since the end of 2024. This became known on May 27 from the Chinese customs data.

The cost of exporting phones to Russia amounted to $211.1 million, RIA Novosti reports. At the same time, import volumes increased by 26% over the month. In annual terms, shipments increased 1.7 times.

In the first four months of 2026, Russia imported smartphones from China for $651.4 million, which is 13.3% more than the same period in 2025.

However, Western sanctions and OPEC quotas create difficulties.

In March 2026, Russia also increased imports of passenger cars from China by almost half year-on-year and retained its status as their largest buyer. So, in early spring, imports increased 1.8 times compared to March last year, amounting to $1.109 billion. At the same time, imports increased by about a third on a monthly basis.
