Russia and Kazakhstan have taken a new step in the field of cooperation in the field of cosmonautics, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted in an article "Russia– Kazakhstan: Union in the Heart of Eurasia," published on May 27 on the Kremlin's website.

The Russian President recalled that this year, on April 30, the first launch of the Russian-Kazakh advanced medium-range rocket Soyuz-5/Sunkar from the Baiterek complex took place.

"It is symbolic that this happened in the year of the 65th anniversary of the first human flight into low-Earth orbit, Yuri Gagarin, who embarked on his historic mission from the Baikonur cosmodrome," Putin said.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced on May 26 that Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan is scheduled for May 28-29. The trip is timed to coincide with the EurAsEC summit in Astana and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev said on April 30 that the upcoming visit of the Russian president to Kazakhstan would bring relations between Moscow and Astana to a new level.
