A teenage girl died when a tree fell in the Perm Region.

In the city of Tchaikovsky, Perm Region, a teenage girl died as a result of a falling tree toppled by a squally wind. This is reported by the head of the city Alexey Agafonov, the regional prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee.

"Due to adverse weather conditions, a tragedy occurred: strong gusts of wind knocked down trees. A teenager died," Agafonov said in his Telegram channel.

The tragedy occurred in a wooded area near the city beach, the prosecutor's office said in a statement. As a result of the fall of a tree, the minor suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to preliminary data provided by the <url> news agency, a 17-year-old girl became a victim of the disaster. The press service of the SU TFR in the region informed the news agency that a criminal case had been opened into the incident.

Meanwhile, the mayor writes that as a result of falling trees, there is another injured girl. She is currently receiving medical care. The condition is stable, there is no threat to life. Psychologists are working with the mother of the deceased girl and with the children who witnessed the tragedy.

The city continues to clean up fallen trees and restore power lines.
