- Chekalin's lawyer reported that the convict had no complaints about the conditions in the pre-trial detention center.
Artem Chekalin, the former husband of blogger Lerchek (Valeria Chekalina), who was convicted in the case of withdrawing funds to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using forged documents, still has no complaints about the conditions of detention in the pre-trial detention center. His lawyer Konstantin Tretyakov told Izvestia on May 26.
"There are no complaints about the conditions of detention," he explained.
In April, Chekalin's lawyers and he himself filed complaints against the verdict. Currently, Lercek's ex-husband is in the Butyrka detention center.
On April 13, Chekalin was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony. In addition, he will have to pay a fine of 194 million rubles. At the same time, the defense announced its intention to appeal the verdict against Chekalin. Later, the defense released a video message recorded by Chekalin before the trial, in which he stated that he considers himself innocent.
