On May 27-29, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During the visit, the parties will sign 16 documents, including an agreement on the construction of Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant with the participation of Rosatom. The program of the visit
Putin will arrive in Astana on the afternoon of May 27. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will personally meet him at the airport. The welcoming ceremony will be accompanied by a guard of honor and a flight of aircraft with the Russian tricolor.
After that, the leaders will travel to the residence of the President of Kazakhstan, where an informal friendly one-on-one lunch will be held.
Composition of the Russian delegation
The Russian side will be represented very widely — the delegation includes more than 30 people. Among them are Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, nine ministers, representatives of the presidential administration, heads of federal services and representatives of large Russian businesses.
Nuclear power plant construction
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that one of the key events of the Russian leader's visit would be the signing of an agreement on the establishment of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
"During the visit, important agreements will be concluded on the basic parameters of the nuclear power plant and on financing the project through the Russian state export credit," Ushakov told reporters.
What documents will be signed?
16 documents will be signed in the presence of the leaders, including a joint statement on the seven foundations of friendship and good neighborliness between the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan. After that, Putin and Tokayev will make a statement to the press.
