From January to March, more than 3 million people visited the capital's libraries, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.

"Today, these are not only book repositories, but also creative spaces where meetings with writers, musical evenings, lectures and classes of literary clubs are regularly held," Sergunina noted.

According to her, 13.3 million people attended libraries last year, and more than 64,000 events were held there.

There are 440 reading rooms subordinate to the city in Moscow with a total fund of over 15 million publications. Residents of the capital took almost 3 million of them in the first quarter of this year. In addition, in the first three months of 2026, about 40 thousand single reader tickets were issued, their total number is approaching 1.4 million.

The All-Russian Library Day is celebrated annually on May 27. On May 30, a "Single Open Day" campaign will be held in the capital's reading rooms and cultural centers. Visitors will enjoy a program with book presentations, quizzes, poetry readings and other events.

The Department of Culture of the capital recalled that city libraries are regularly updated: they put the premises in order, install modern equipment, replenish book collections. Some have coworking areas for work or study. You can also hold your own event in these spaces: training, master class, presentation.

In a number of libraries, it is possible to independently issue publications — it is enough to put the selected copies on the platform of the self-service station, scan the label and enter the number of a single reader's ticket. The data will be automatically updated in your personal profile.
