The European media completely ignores the fact of a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a college and dormitory in Starobilsk, Luhansk People's Republic. This was announced on May 26 by Roger Keppel, editor-in-chief of the Swiss portal Die Weltwoche.

"Our media and public reaction completely or almost ignores the fact that the Russian side describes these strikes as retaliatory, provoked by Ukraine's missile attack on the college, which killed many young people," said Keppel.

He also stressed that due to the German media in Moscow, there is a growing belief that Germany is "actually waging a war for Ukraine." At the same time, Berlin, according to him, does not take into account this dangerous circumstance.

"If such a belief really prevails, then at some point it will naturally become dangerous for Germany. Not that it's very likely, but it's amazing how frivolously and indifferently the German media and the German public completely ignore such escalation scenarios," the journalist concluded.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the tragedy in Starobilsk had been turned upside down in the Western information space. According to the diplomat, the events in the foreign media are presented as if it was not the educational building that was affected, but the command post of the Russian forces, and instead of the children, there were allegedly "generals" there.

On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the Starobilsk College. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). 21 people were killed in the attack, and 65 others were injured. The names of all the victims of the terrorist attack have been established. In the LPR, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning for the dead.
