A freight train hit a moose near the Suida station in the Leningrad region. The animal died from its injuries, the press service of the transport police reported on Tuesday, May 26.

According to the agency, the driver applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be prevented.

The incident did not affect the timetable of trains on this section of the railway, writes 78.ru .

Earlier, insurers estimated that up to a quarter of accidents in May were caused by animals entering the roadway. During this period, moose, spotted deer and marals calve, which makes them more mobile and migrate across the trails.
