The dialogue in the nuclear Five has not been completely frozen, but it is currently very limited. This was announced on May 26 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov at the international Security Forum.
"Although the dialogue in the nuclear Five has not been completely frozen, it is conducted strictly at the working level and touches on a limited set of topics. He is not able to give a result in the form of de—escalation measures of a practical nature," Ryabkov said, the recording is available on the website of the Russian Security Council.
Ryabkov noted that Russia welcomes the resumption of negotiations with the United States on nuclear arms control, but there are no prerequisites for this. He also stressed that such contacts would be possible only if Washington's relations with Moscow improved. At the same time, the experts of the "nuclear five", according to him, held a meeting in Morocco a few weeks ago, adds "Газета.Ru ".
Alexander Sternik, Director of the Third Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted on May 12 that Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal for a meeting of the "nuclear five" does not lose its relevance and acquires special significance against the background of the current international crisis.
