Ushakov pointed to the record growth in trade between Russia and Kazakhstan
The trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan reached record levels in 2025. This was announced by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov at a briefing on May 26.
"Russia is one of Kazakhstan's leading trading partners. Russia's share in foreign trade is about 19%. In 2025, the trade turnover grew to a record almost $29 billion," he said during a briefing.
In addition, according to Ushakov, Russian investments in Kazakhstan's economy exceeded $29.4 billion by the end of 2025. More than 23,500 enterprises with Russian participation operate in the republic, and over 70 major investment projects are being implemented in mechanical engineering, energy, agriculture, petrochemistry, space exploration and other industries.
Separately, the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation highlighted the flagship project in the field of peaceful atom — the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan with the participation of Rosatom using modern Russian technologies.
"I would also like to note <...> that we have the longest land border in the world — more than 7,500 km. This means that our regions are cooperating most actively and intensively. We have 76 Russian regions involved in this cooperation directly with the Kazakh authorities," Ushakov added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan from May 27 to 29 at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The leaders of the two countries will discuss the current state and prospects for strengthening the comprehensive strategic interstate partnership.
On May 8, the President of Kazakhstan announced the active preparation of his state for Putin's state visit. At the same time, he made a forecast according to which by the end of this year, the volume of trade between the countries could reach $ 30 billion.
