The Russian Academy of Sciences told about the active work on the creation of the Sarmat ICBM

Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) have been actively working on the creation of a unique Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). This was announced on May 26 by the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov.

"This work has been going on for a long time, for more than 10 years, and [was carried out] by almost all scientists in all areas," TASS quoted him as saying.

Krasnikov said that members of the Academy of Sciences participated in the creation of the rocket at every stage, starting with the appearance of the rocket and ending with electronics.

On the same day, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said that the successful tests of the Sarmat and the exercises of the nuclear forces would moderate the ardor of the West and force them to assess the possible consequences of their policy towards Russia. Shoigu noted that Russia is adequately assessing the risks and is systematically increasing the number of exercises and the number of military capabilities.
