Zakharova called the refusal of Japanese journalists to go to Starobilsk a disgrace.
The collective refusal of Japanese journalists to visit the city of Starobilsk in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) to learn about the consequences of the actions of the Kiev regime is a real disgrace. This was announced on May 26 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Why you (Japanese. Are you interested in the relations between our countries, if you are not interested in how the Kiev regime in our country, with the support of Tokyo, is killing children? What kind of relationship can you talk about?" — the diplomat said in response to a question from a Japanese correspondent on the sidelines of the International Security Forum.
Zakharova stressed that Russian citizens were brought up to remember the tragedies in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and always honor the victims of those events, despite Japan's anti-Soviet and militaristic position in World War II. She noted that Russia, which lost 27 million people in that war, never hushed up the suffering of Japanese citizens from the use of nuclear weapons.
"After our attitude, we see such an unworthy attitude on the part of Japan towards our tragedy. I do not know how it is in Japan, I know how it is with us: there are no other people's children," the representative of the ministry added.
The diplomat also recalled that the Russian side had warned the international community and diplomatic missions in advance about systemic attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure related to the military-industrial complex and decision-making centers. According to her, these measures are necessary to eliminate the terrorist threat against civilians.
"It's not just an outrage, it's a disgrace and a shame that we have seen a collective refusal from Japanese journalists not to visit the site of the tragedy," Zakharova concluded, promising to find an opportunity for "separate review" of the situation for those media representatives who "still have a conscience."
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked the academic building and dormitory of Starobilsk College on May 22. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). 21 people were killed in the attack, and 65 others were injured. The names of all the victims of the terrorist attack have been established. In the LPR, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning for the dead.
On May 25, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on Starobilsk had "run out of patience," so the Russian Armed Forces are launching successive strikes against military installations in Kiev. The ministry also advised foreigners to leave Kiev as soon as possible, and local residents not to approach military and administrative infrastructure facilities. Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and notified Washington of such plans by the Russian army.
