Nine pedestrian crossings will be built on the new highway in Butovo

Nine pedestrian crossings will be built on the new Solntsevo — Butovo — Varshavskoye (SBV) highway. Thus, their total number will reach 20, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his channel in Maks.

The head of the capital noted that the new highway is "a road with very heavy traffic." Since residential areas are located on both sides of the highway, local residents need safe crossings across the highway, Sobyanin stressed.

"We have provided for the construction of 20 off—street pedestrian crossings along the entire highway," the mayor said. 11 are already operating on four commissioned sections of the road.

The remaining nine will be built on the last section, from Polyana Street to Varshavskoye Highway. Pedestrian crossings will be located on both sides of the highway. Six of them will be underground, and three will be above ground.

The creation of comfortable pedestrian connections corresponds to the goals and initiatives of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," Sobyanin recalled. He also added that, in addition to pedestrian crossings, the metro infrastructure is used to cross the highway — five stations of the Sokolnicheskaya line are located along the route.

The SBV will connect five outbound highways and will play a key role in the transport infrastructure of the Southwestern, Southern, Troitsk and Novomoskovsky districts. The final section of the highway is expected to be commissioned in 2026.

About 12 km of dedicated lanes have been introduced on the highway, and 37 stops for ground transport are located. There are 70 bus and electric bus routes along the SBV or in its immediate vicinity.
