The CIS Executive Committee received a statement from Moldova on its withdrawal from key Commonwealth agreements, while Chisinau announced that it intends to maintain economic cooperation. This was announced on May 26 by the Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev.
"Moldova has notified us. We have started the procedure. It will last a whole year. But there was also a request from Chisinau that it wants to remain in the CIS economic cooperation," he said during a round table on "35 years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: results, tasks, prospects."
