Shoigu spoke about the consequences of the Sarmat missile tests for the West
Successful tests of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile and the exercises of the nuclear forces will moderate the ardor of the West and force them to assess the possible consequences of their policy towards Russia. This was stated on May 26 by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
"I am confident that the recent successful tests of the Sarmat ballistic missile and last week's exercises on the use of nuclear forces will moderate the ardor of Western strategists and force them to take a sober look at the possible consequences of their adventurous policy towards Russia and its allies," he said.
Shoigu noted that Russia is adequately assessing the risks and is systematically increasing the number of exercises and the number of military capabilities. Moscow is also taking measures to minimize NATO's intelligence activities in the western region, adds "Газета.Ru ".
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responding to a question from Izvestia, said on May 21 that the tests of the Russian newest Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile were planned.
On May 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin named the Sarmat the most powerful missile system in the world. According to him, the total warhead capacity of the complex is four times higher than that of its global counterparts. The Head of State also stressed that Sarmat's missiles can fly along both ballistic and suborbital trajectories.
