Even serious ceiling drops can be masked or leveled without expensive stretch coating. Alexey Orekhov, an expert on interior decoration and CEO of NATEK, told Izvestia on May 28 what methods would help hide irregularities and create a stylish interior.

For local defects, spot repairs are sufficient: cracks are stitched, filled with putty and reinforced with serpyanka. After leveling, the surface is primed, a starting and finishing putty is applied, and then painted.

For severe fluctuations, wet plaster is used on lighthouses or leveling with drywall. The first method preserves the height of the room, but requires skills, the second is less dirty, but "eats up" from five to seven centimeters. If complete alignment seems difficult, the irregularities can be hidden with decorative tools. Textured paint with fillers or decorative plaster creates relief, distracting attention from defects.

"Before applying such paints, it is not necessary to bring the geometry to zero, which is their key advantage," the expert noted.

Wallpaper on the ceiling remains a budget option, especially non-woven ones for painting. Their texture hides defects, and an abstract or chaotic drawing additionally distracts attention without requiring the perfect geometry of the canvases.
