In January—April of this year, 22.1 thousand new passenger cars were imported from Kyrgyzstan to Russia, which is 185% more than in the same period last year. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 26.

"Unofficial importers use Kyrgyzstan as a transit destination to deliver more powerful vehicles. Cars with engines over 160 hp account for more than 80% of Kyrgyz imports," the expert explained.

Toyota cars accounted for more than a quarter of imports (27.5%). The top five also included Audi (12.4%), Volkswagen (12%), BMW (9.2%) and Geely (7.8%) brands.

Among the models, the Toyota RAV4 crossover (2,527 units) became the leader in terms of import through Kyrgyzstan, followed by the Toyota Highlander (2,382 units). The top ten also includes Audi Q5, Geely Monjaro, Volkswagen Tiguan, BMW X3, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Teramont, Zeekr 9X and Lynk & Co 900.

As reported on May 21, in the first four months of this year, 53.5 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia under alternative import schemes, which is 94% more than in January—April last year.
