Indian refineries began to purchase oil from Latin America and Africa after problems with supplies from the Middle East amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on May 25 by the Reuters news agency, citing data provided by trade sources.

"Indian refineries switched to imports from Latin America and Africa after supplies from the Middle East were disrupted by the Israeli-US war against Iran, which restricted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz." — the publication says.

According to Kpler data, in April and May, Indian refineries increased supplies from Venezuela, Brazil, Angola and Nigeria.
