VKKS deprived Momotov of the status of a retired judge

The Higher Qualification Board of Judges (HCCC) of the Russian Federation has decided to terminate the resignation of Judge Viktor Momotov of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. This was reported on May 25 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Momotov personally attended the meeting. Termination of retirement entails the removal of the status of a retired judge, as well as related benefits, monthly payments and guarantees of immunity.

On September 23, 2025, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation demanded that almost 100 real estate objects worth about 9 billion rubles be seized from Momotov.

VKKS prematurely terminated Momotov's powers on September 26 last year. Later, he was restricted from traveling abroad, and also banned from opening new bank accounts. A similar ban was imposed on its affiliated entities.

On October 14, 2025, the Ostankino Court of Moscow granted the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to seize assets affiliated with it as part of an anti-corruption lawsuit. For his part, Momotov refutes all the arguments of the prosecutor's office. The retired judge considers every argument to be untenable and unproven.
