A criminal case has been opened in the Volgograd Region against a 41-year-old woman and her roommate suspected of systematically torturing a young child. This was reported on May 25 in the investigative department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the region.

The defendants are charged with committing a crime under clauses "d, e" of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture committed by a group of persons against a minor who is dependent on the perpetrator). According to the investigation, for a long time, the boy's mother, together with her common-law spouse, subjected her son to physical violence for minor offenses of the child.

"His roommates regularly punched him in the head and body. It was established that last summer, in the courtyard of one of the houses, the defendants beat a minor after he accidentally damaged the frame pool. After that, the boy was thrown into a pool filled with cold water and was not allowed to get out," the agency's website says.

In addition, other facts of ill-treatment were revealed: in particular, the mother held burning matches to her son's hands. Currently, the injured child has been transferred to his father for living. Investigators are carrying out a set of actions to establish all the circumstances of the incident, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure against the couple is being resolved.

On May 23, it was reported that a resident of Balashikha inflicted several blows on the head of his young daughter in the elevator of an apartment building. Investigators have opened a criminal case on the torture of a minor child. According to the Investigative Committee, the torture may be systematic.
