The expert named the possible cargo of the sunken steamer "Prince Gorchakov"
The steamer Prince Gorchakov, which sank in the waters of Peter the Great Bay in 1906, en route from Odessa, could have had expensive interior items and other valuables. This was announced on May 25 by Alexey Kondratyuk, head of the underwater research section of the Russian Geographical Society, with reference to a number of archives.
"The steamer was transporting household items from Odessa for the high-ranking and wealthy people of the city of Vladivostok. What could it be? Perhaps it's some kind of furniture, paintings, or other valuable items. We remember that the ship's cargo was insured for 1.5 million rubles, which was a lot of money at that time," he said in an interview with TASS.
