Speed limit may be increased on three Russian highways
At the end of this year, Rosavtodor may increase the speed on the Tavrida sections in Crimea to 110 km/h. An increase in the limit to this level is also expected on sections of the M-3 "Ukraine" and M-4 "Don" highways after the completion of reconstruction, the corresponding decisions are being prepared by the Avtodor state company. This was reported by Kommersant on May 25.
According to Rosavtodor, a 90 km/h limit is currently in effect on most of the Tavrida highway, and the installation of stationary lighting is a key condition for increasing the permitted speed, and the necessary work is already underway.
Currently, it is possible to accelerate up to 110 km/ h on the Ring Road around St. Petersburg, on sections A-217 "Primorsky half-ring", M-2 "Crimea", M-8 "Kholmogory", M-9 "Baltia", M-7 "Volga". The agency admitted that the number of such sites will increase in the future, and this will primarily affect highways.
The state-owned Avtodor company indicated that currently 33% of its entire road network operates at an increased speed. Thus, up to 130 km/h can be accelerated on the M-11 Neva and on the section of the M-4 Don highway (bypassing Novaya Usmani and Rogachevka), and up to 110 km/h on the sections M-1 Belarus, M-3 Ukraine, M-4 "Don" and M-12 "Vostok".
According to the traffic regulations, the limit of 130 km/h can be set by the decision of the road owner and the State Traffic Inspectorate on any highway, while in fact this is practiced only by Avtodor, the note says.
Earlier, on May 15, it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill on amendments to the Administrative Code, which proposed to consolidate administrative responsibility for violations of the average speed if it is recorded by traffic cameras.
