For example, in the Moscow region, on 44 km of the federal highway M-8 "Kholmogory", a 28-year-old truck driver ran into a concrete barrier separating traffic flows in opposite directions in a road construction area, after which the truck overturned into the oncoming lane, colliding with 13 vehicles. Among the injured are 43 child pedestrians, 30 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 38 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 79 outside their area of operation.
There were also 22 bus accidents in which there were no fatalities, but 44 road users needed medical attention. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
So, in the Republic of Dagestan, during the daytime, on 765 km of the federal highway R-217 Kavkaz, a 53-year—old driver of an inter-regional bus traveling along the route Grozny - Makhachkala with 10 passengers in the cabin collided with a truck moving in front of him in the same direction. In Kovrov (Vladimir region), a 36-year-old female passenger car driver at a controlled intersection, when turning left at a traffic light, did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a crossover. The five-year-old son of a motorist, who was being transported without using a seat belt in a child restraint installed in the back seat, died in a car accident. The female driver was hospitalized, the 54-year-old crossover driver was sent for outpatient treatment.
In Chita (Zabaikalsky Krai) at night, a 40-year-old car driver drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where he collided with two cars. In the Chelyabinsk region, in the evening, a 36-year-old drunk man, driving a passenger car without a driver's license, ran over a three-year-old boy who was moving along the edge of the carriageway of the main road on an unaccompanied begovel when leaving a secondary road at an unregulated intersection in one of the rural settlements. The State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens who have not been trained in driving schools and have not received the right to drive vehicles in accordance with the established procedure, or who have been deprived of such a right, to refrain from trying to get behind the wheel and drive onto public roads. It is doubly unacceptable to do this while intoxicated. By their reckless actions, such drivers endanger not only their personal lives and health, but also the lives and health of other road users, including children, the department noted.
The State Traffic Inspectorate also reminded parents to monitor the leisure time and behavior of their young children.: do not let them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians, retroreflective elements should be used on children's outerwear. The lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of preschool and primary school age children often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users.
"In addition, we remind motorists that the life and health of their passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior behind the wheel. Avoid risky driving, speeding, sudden lane changes, overtaking, and other dangerous maneuvers. We also draw the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for transporting children. Take care of your young passengers, preventing even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for the Promotion of road safety and prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
On May 21, the Russian government approved an action plan for the implementation of a Strategy to improve road safety for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036. The plan contains more than 260 events. The main goal of the strategy is to reduce road deaths by one and a half times by 2030 and twice by 2036 (compared to the level of 2023).
