In Yakutia, the second wave of flooding began in the Aldan region on the Aldan River. The water level in the river continues to rise, flooding of low areas of the settlements of Ugoyan and Chagda is possible.

According to IA YakutiaMedia, with reference to the YAUGMS, the water level at the Ugoyan hydropost on May 24 was 695 cm above the zero of the post. In the next 24 hours, it may rise to 760 cm. The critical mark is 768 cm.

On May 24, the water level at the Uchur hydropost near the village of Chagda was 1,273 cm. Within two days, it can increase to 1540 cm. At the 1550 cm mark, flooding of Chagda will begin.

According to weather forecasts, heavy rains are expected in the Aldan and Neryungrinsky districts in the near future. The wind speed in gusts will reach 22 m/s.

On Thursday, May 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Prosecutor General's Office (GP) of the Russian Federation to check compliance with legislative prohibitions aimed at protecting against flooding in the regions. The Government has been instructed to accelerate the introduction of amendments to Article 67 of the Water Code of the Russian Federation and classify engineering flood protection facilities as objects of increased responsibility.
