Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi was injured in the MLS regular season match against Philadelphia. This was reported by the Business Recorder on May 25.

"Inter Miami star captain Lionel Messi appears to have suffered a leg injury after grazing his left thigh, forcing him to leave the field in the 73rd minute of a 6-4 home win over Philadelphia Union," the publication says.

The meeting was held in Miami and ended with a 6-4 victory for the hosts. The Argentine forward scored two assists, but could not finish the match.

In the 73rd minute, Messi was replaced by Mateo Silvetti. After leaving the field, the player went to the podium, holding his left leg.

The club has not yet disclosed the nature of the damage and the possible recovery time of the player.

This MLS season, Messi remains one of the leaders of Inter Miami in terms of performance and number of effective actions.

On May 11, the Argentina national football team published an expanded application for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which included Messi. The footballer is a graduate of the Catalan FC Barcelona.
