The Interior Ministry reported that fraudsters forged calls from law enforcement agencies.

Fraudsters using artificial intelligence (AI) began to fake the voices of public employees of the Investigative Committee (IC) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. This was reported on May 25 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Voice synthesis (deepfake calls) with imitation of the voices of relatives or officials in real time, cases of voice forgery of public employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have been recorded," RIA Novosti's press service reports.

The department clarified that in 2025-2026, attackers began to systematically apply AI technologies in their schemes.

The department also stressed that using neural networks, attackers produce realistic fake documents such as certificates, certificates and various resolutions. They can be distinguished by the absence of small elements, distorted backgrounds, and inconsistencies in the text content.

In addition, the Interior Ministry reported on the creation of fake videos featuring famous personalities, where they allegedly announce "state payments", promotions or holiday sweepstakes.

It is noted that criminals also use automated phishing mailings, adapting messages to specific people based on information collected from open sources.

On May 24, the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that telephone scammers began to use a criminal scheme with voice confirmation more often at the initial stages of deception. It is clarified that the victim receives a call allegedly from a polyclinic, an insurance company, a telecom operator or a government agency, where it is reported that it is necessary to "confirm the data" and it is suggested to repeat a pre—prepared phrase - for example, consent to data transfer, policy replacement or identity confirmation.
