Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian territory

Five people were injured as a result of attacks by Ukrainian drones on the DPR. A cultural institution was damaged in Gorlovka. The governor of the Bryansk region, Egor Kovalchuk, said that one person was injured in the Bryansk region.

The head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, said that a civilian from Starobilsk suffered while trying to save children during an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on an educational institution.

"He rushed to help the children in the first few minutes. Despite the fire and repeated explosions, he tried to take the children to a safe place until he was injured," he said in a message on the Maks messenger.

Anna Pogribnichenko, a student who died in the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on a college, was buried in Starobilsk. Saad Khalaf, the chief correspondent of Al Arabiya TV channel, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on the college were an attack on a civilian facility. Khalaf also noted that there were a large number of personal belongings belonging to children inside the building. The publication L'antidiplomatico stated that the Ukrainian attack is a crime that cannot be justified in Western society.

Iran-US Agreement

The New York Times (NYT) reported that Washington and Tehran have reached an agreement in principle on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Fox News channel, in turn, reported that Iran and the United States had agreed on a 95% agreement. According to The Washington Post, the agreement between the Iranian and American sides provides for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz by Tehran within 30 days from the date of the deal.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there are good chances for concluding an agreement with the Iranian side on the nuclear issue.

"There is a pretty solid foundation on the table in terms of their ability to open the strait, achieve the opening of the strait, enter into real, meaningful, time—limited negotiations on the nuclear issue, and hopefully we can do that," he was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.

Von der Leyen's visit to Lithuania

The newspaper Politico reported on the visit of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday, May 26, to Lithuania in order to discuss incidents with UAVs.

Eight people were injured in a fire on a cargo ship in the port of Hamburg.

"A fire broke out in the ship's storage area. <...> A total of eight people were seriously injured. Seven of them were taken to the nearest hospitals by the Hamburg ambulance service. Among them was a firefighter who was seriously injured during extinguishing," the website of the city's fire service says.

In total, the Hamburg Fire Department, the volunteer fire brigade and the Hamburg Ambulance service were at the scene for about three hours, involving about 80 people.
