"Extreme heavy rains have occurred in Yongchuan district, Chongqing Province, resulting in the deaths of three people," the publication said.
It is noted that the municipal and regional flood and drought management centers of Chongqing sent a rescue team consisting of more than 400 people to the scene. These include specialists from public safety, emergency response and fire protection services.
At the moment, a total of 168 people have been evacuated, 82 people are housed in new residential areas. According to the agency, rescue operations are still ongoing.
Xinhua news agency reported on May 24 that one person was killed and 17 others were missing in Yongchuan district in Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China as a result of heavy rains.
