Stubb opposed the opening of Finland's border with Russia
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has spoken out against opening the border with Russia until he receives guarantees that Moscow allegedly will not use migrants as a tool of pressure. This was announced on May 24 by the Yle broadcaster.
"Stubb says that the border will open when there is confidence that Russia will not use migrants or refugees as a tool against Finland," the report says.
At the same time, the Finnish president did not provide evidence that Russia was allegedly sending migrants or refugees to the Finnish border.
Stubb said on May 15 that negotiations between Russia and the countries of the European Union (EU) were inevitable. He also noted that the discussion about the alleged "Russian threat to the EU" needs to be lowered, since there are no allegedly dangerous intentions from the Russian Federation.
