The former chairman of the Parliament of Dagestan, Shikhsaidov, has died

Former Chairman of the People's Assembly (Parliament) of Dagestan Khizri Shikhsaidov died at the age of 79. This was announced on May 24 by the adviser to the Speaker of the Parliament of the region, Elmira Sheikhova.

"Khizri Shikhsaidov has passed away," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

Shikhsaidov was born on August 1, 1947 in Buinaksk, Dagestan ASSR. He was educated at the Dagestan Agricultural Institute, and also graduated from the Higher Party School.

He started his career in the agricultural sector, and later worked in government agencies in Dagestan. Over the years, he held the positions of Chairman of the Buinaksky district Council and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic.

From February 2013 to September 2021, Shikhsaidov headed the Parliament of Dagestan. In different periods, he was also the first deputy chairman of the State Council of the Republic, Chairman of the government of the region, head of the Accounting Chamber of Dagestan and a deputy of the State Duma of two convocations.
