The psychologist spoke about the early ignored symptoms of burnout
Identifying early signs of burnout allows you to slow down in time before the condition becomes chronic and begins to negatively affect your health, relationships, and quality of life. This was announced on May 24 by Maria Ignatieva, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and psychologist at the Yasno service.
According to her, the very first sign is fatigue. As the expert noted, she is most often ignored.
"This is the most characteristic and at the same time the most ignored symptom. Weekends don't help you recover, vacations only provide relief for a couple of days, and the morning begins with a feeling like you haven't slept at all. When rest stops working properly, it means that exhaustion is greater than normal physical fatigue. Your psyche signals that the body's resources are not being replenished in the usual ways," she said in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».
The psychologist noted that one of the signs is a decrease in concentration and productivity: habitual tasks begin to require more effort, there is distraction, mistakes in ordinary matters and a feeling that thinking is working worse. According to her, when overloaded, the nervous system saves resources, primarily reducing attention and RAM, so cognitive functions begin to work in "emergency mode."
She also pointed to emotional detachment and irritability, when previously interesting or pleasant things can cause indifference or irritation, and communication with colleagues, children or a partner is perceived as an additional burden. According to her, such detachment becomes a defensive reaction to the depletion of internal resources.
In addition, the specialist drew attention to the loss of meaning and motivation, when work and habitual activities cease to bring satisfaction, questions arise about the meaning of what is happening, to which a person does not find an answer.
"Headaches, insomnia, frequent colds, muscle tension, digestive problems — physiological manifestations may indicate exhaustion of the body and work "at the limit." Medical examinations do not reveal pathologies, but the body continues to signal that the psyche refuses to recognize. Somatization, the body's ability to express what cannot be described in words, is one of the most telling indicators of the transition of internal conflict into a chronic phase," she said.
According to the expert, burnout does not develop in a straight line, but is cyclical, because it worsens during periods of high stress and may temporarily weaken due to rest. However, without changes in lifestyle and attitude, the condition returns over time.
Analysts hh.ru On May 21, the most productive categories of citizens were named according to the survey results. For example, millennials report maximum productivity (63% of respondents aged 35 and over). At the same time, 46% of respondents among young people aged 18-24 are convinced of their effectiveness at work. Respondents in top positions, i.e. business unit directors, department heads, and top managers, are more likely than others to rate their productivity as high.
