Fico called on European politicians to independently establish a dialogue with Russia

European politicians should independently establish a dialogue with Russia, and not through other countries. This was announced on May 23 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a meeting with students.

"It can't work like this, I'm going to a meeting with President [of Russia] Vladimir Putin, everyone publicly scolds me, and then everyone calls me and follows me to the bathroom, asking me: Robert, tell us, what did Putin say? So, damn it, go there, talk to him and find out what Putin is saying," the Slovak prime minister said, the video was posted on the Slovak government's YouTube channel.

He added that serious problems can be avoided only through dialogue between countries.

On May 22, Fico said that politicians from the European Union (EU) countries, after criticizing his trips to Russia, were calling him and asking about the content of conversations with Putin. According to him, some European politicians are also offering to hold meetings to find out the details of his contacts with the Russian leader.
