The EU banned operations with the digital ruble as part of the 20th package of sanctions.

On May 24, the European Union (EU) imposed a ban on transactions with the digital ruble as part of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

"The new measures prohibit the use (and support) of the digital ruble, a digital currency developed by the Central Bank of Russia, which is being created to circumvent sanctions," the document says, published on the EU website.

In addition, the EU imposes a ban on transactions with the RUBx digital financial asset.

The Politico newspaper reported on May 19 that the EU intends to discuss changing the procedure for extending anti-Russian sanctions, restrictions may begin to be approved once a year, rather than every six months. According to the newspaper, this issue is planned to be considered at a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels in June. Now the EU states must regularly unanimously confirm the effect of the sanctions regime.
