- Medvedev hinted to Pashinyan about the inevitability of switching to European gas prices
When Armenia leaves the EAEU, Yerevan will have to switch to European gas prices, and then the population will expel the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was announced on May 23 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.
"It is clear to everyone that when switching to European gas prices, the population of country A (Armenia. — Ed.) will chase this uncle (Pashinyan. — Ed.) with piss rags straight to his loving friend Macron in Paris," Medvedev wrote on the Maks messenger.
The deputy chairman of the Security Council mentioned Pashinyan's words about Russia's obligation to maintain current gas prices for Armenia — $177.5 per thousand cubic meters. At the same time, the exchange prices for gas in Europe in May 2026 are in the region of $ 570-590 per thousand cubic meters.
Medvedev believes that the Armenian prime minister is trying to please everyone. According to him, the risk of being in a difficult economic situation is growing every day, so it's time to start negotiations on the supply of American liquefied natural gas to Armenian ports.
On May 20, Pashinyan announced that Yerevan, taking into account its own interests, does not intend to take drastic steps towards Moscow. According to him, Armenia cannot put its interests below Russia's, while the republic will not enter into a confrontation with the Russian Federation either. The prime minister noted that he is in close contact with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
