Firefighters extinguished a fire in the building of the Research Institute of Precious and Rare Metals and Diamonds in Irkutsk, the main regional directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported on May 23.

It is noted that it was possible to eliminate the open Gorenje on Gagarin Street at 13:04 (08:04 Moscow time). The preliminary cause of the fire is a violation of fire safety rules during fire operations.

"At 13:04, the open gorenje was eliminated on an area of 700 square meters. m. <...> There were no fatalities or injuries," the agency's website says.

According to rescuers, 15 people evacuated the building on their own. 55 personnel and 18 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. At the moment, the pouring of building structures continues. An investigation has been launched into the incident at the Prosecutor's office of the Irkutsk region.

"During the supervisory measures, the prosecutor's office will assess the implementation of legislation in the field of fire safety in the places where citizens stay," the Telegram channel reports.

It became known about the fire in the building of the Research Institute of Precious and Rare Metals and Diamonds in Irkutsk on the morning of May 23. Firefighters received information about smoke on the top floor of a four-story building of the Research Institute of Precious and Rare Metals and Diamonds. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region, one of the offices was on fire at the time of the arrival of the staff.
